Have you watched the show John and Kate Plus 8 on TLC?  It’s a great show about a family who has 8 young children including sextuplets and a set of twins. I’ve always liked  this show as it’s amazing to see just how well this family works considering the extreme amount of children they have.  A recent episode peaked my interest in that it had them gearing up for a camping trip in their backyard. My first inclination was to say “Bravo, but with six kids less than 5 years old you’ll be back in your yard by midnight”. Of course they proved me wrong and the entire family made it not only through the night, but through a pretty severe thunderstorm. The children slept just fine in their sleeping bags and all was well.

What this means is that you families out there is that unless you have 9 children or more you cannot use your kids as the excuse to not try camping out. Sure the backyard is not necessarily roughing it,  but the Gosselins were able to give their kids an introduction to camping in a way that was manageable for them.  If you live in the Northeast the season for tent camping is just about over, but think about it for next year. I promise you it’ll be worth it.

Here’s a clip the Gosselin’s experience (Thanks YouTube!) and thought you folks would find it interesting.
