Hi everyone! Do you camp out with your kids in the backyard? I certainly do and as a matter of fact, I started out as a backyard camper when I was just a boy in my two-person red Coleman pup tent. Needless to say, I love backyard camping and truly believe it is the most effective way to introduce young children to camping. And that is why I’m excited about this year’s Great American Backyard Campout! This event was created last year by the National Wildlife Federation to not only educate children (as well as adults) to the outdoors, but to also raise money to help support the NWF programs such as Green Hour, Nature Find, Trees for the 21st Century, Certified Backyard and Schoolyard Habitats.
There are many reasons to register for this great event. Find out more at http://www.nwf.org
Thanks again for stopping by!
Eric

Hey Eric,
I remember camping out in the back garden when I was a kid. My tiny two man, single skin tent was ideal for those warm summer nights. Many fond memories of camping in the garden, gaining experience for camping further afield later on in life.
Looks like their having a great time in the video. Have to wait until kids get a little older to join in.
I also enjoy camping in the garden at home. Now my daughter is getting older she enjoys being on her own but while they are young its a great way to introduce camping and the fun it can be!

Wow its Looks like their having a great time in the video.
I used to LOVE camping out in the garden with my Dad! We felt like we were on the biggest adventure! I still love camping out, although it’s normally a liiiitttle cold for me to just fancy camping in the garden when I know my nice warm bed is inside
But I still adore camping trips with my friends… in fact we’re trying to plan a trip at the moment. I might suggest we cut the costs and pitch up in one of our back gardens
Hi Eric,
Like you I started whit camping when I was a boy in my backyard whit my friends, but now every year I go whit my familly all over Romania and camping, here are some wonderfull places where people go camping, I like to fish to. And I have a blog or site how you want to say and I help people to find the best camping beds and best deals, I made that site beacuse for me is very important how I sleep when I go camping and now I want to make another blog or site about camping chairs. My site is http://www.campingbeds.org I hope you like it. I love your article you did a good job. I hope I will post comments soon.

Its a great way for kids to get used to camping. i remember my first backyard camping like it was yesterday!.
I grew up in the city but I used to camp in our living room. I’d pull up chairs, hand blankets over them, and sleep in my sleeping bag. It might not sound very exciting, but it was the best we could do and I had great fun. Now as an adult I love to camp.

This sounds like a good idea! Good thing we have a huge front yard here in our home. We also have two tents here. The kids have only gone camping once when they had an activity in school. I’m sure the kids would love to try this. I think they might even call their friends to come over.
Hi Eric,
Very nice article. I grew up going camping. My parents and their friends all went and took us so there were a lot of things to do and places to go. I think it’s good to promote the outdoors to our kids and families. I promote a lot of these same ideas on my http://www.carcamping.com site. My hope is that people will enjoy doing things outside like we did as kids!
Camping is a fun activity you can do with your kids. Thanks for sharing! Keep posting! Great job!
